The 2007 US Tour opening match of The Mexican National Football (Soccer) Team’s season will be held this year in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium. They will be up against their South American rival, Venezuela. With Hugo Sanchez as their new coach after a devastating Round 2 World Cup loss last year there are great hopes for the Mexican’s this year. The Venezuelan’s have yet to qualify for a World Cup however.

Here is some info about Venezuela from the Wiki:
The Venezuela national football team is the national football team of Venezuela and is controlled by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol. It is nicknamed La Vinotinto (The Red Wine One), because of the traditional burgundy color of their shirts.
It is historically and statistically the weakest of the 10 CONMEBOL teams (perhaps due to the enormous popularity of baseball in the country), and the only one which has never qualified for a World Cup. Often Venezuela would go through entire qualification tournaments without recording a single win, although this has changed in the last two qualifying rounds. Their best finish in Copa América was fifth in their first entry, in 1967. The team itself has improved a lot in recent years. Analysts tend to say that Venezuela has a chance of qualifying for the next World Cup but that the team has a lot to learn yet. Juan Arango is considered to be the best player in the current team, and gives a lot of support to his team mates.
and some more info about Mexico for your reading pleasure also from Wiki:
The Mexico national football team – El Tri – is the national football team of Mexico, and is controlled by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FEMEXFUT).
Since the 1990s, Mexico has been one of the most consistent nations in the world, having qualified for four consecutive World Cups, and reaching the second round on all four occasions. They have also had strong showings in the Copa America ever since their first invitation from the CONMEBOL in 1993 (although they are under the jurisdiction of CONCACAF).
