And for all you Charger fans here is how they finished out their 2006 season from Wikipedia:

AFC Divisional Playoffs: vs. New England Patriots
Entering the playoffs as the AFC’s top seed, the Chargers began their playoff run in the divisional round against the fourth-seeded New England Patriots. In the first quarter, San Diego trailed early with Pats kicker Stephen Gostkowski getting a 50-yard field goal for the only score of the period. In the second quarter, San Diego took the lead with league MVP RB LaDainian Tomlinson getting a 2-yard touchdown run, while RB Michael Turner got a 6-yard TD run. However, the Patriots managed to score before the half as QB Tom Brady completed a 6-yard TD pass to WR Jabar Gaffney. In the third quarter, New England drew closer with Gostkowski kicking a 34-yard field goal for the only score of the period. The field goal came after the Chargers defense had apparently stopped the Patriots for a seven yard loss on a third down play putting the ball on the Charger 37 yard line. However, during the celebration of the stop, CB Drayton Florence incurred a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for head-butting Patriots TE Daniel Graham, giving the Patriots a first down on the Charger 18 yard line. In the fourth quarter, the Chargers added on to their lead with Tomlinson getting a 3-yard TD run. However, things collapsed for San Diego, because the turning point in the game was when Free Safety Marlon McCree intercepted Brady (on fourth down) and then immediately fumbled, which would get picked up by Pats WR (and former Charger) Reche Caldwell. It made San Diego use a challenge, which failed and cost them a timeout. Also, it allowed New England to respond with Brady completing a 4-yard TD pass to Caldwell, followed by RB Kevin Faulk taking the direct snap over the goal line for a 2-point conversion. Afterwards, rookie Gostkowski would kick a 31-yard field goal. The Chargers tried in vain to fight back, yet kicker Nate Kaeding missed a 54-yard field goal, wide right and short.

After the game, the Patriots erupted in celebration, mocking the “Lights Out” dance of LB Shawne Merriman and stomping on the Chargers mid-field logo. This created controversy as Chargers’ quarterback Philip Rivers and running back LaDainian Tomlinson confronted Patriots players.
