Here’s some factoids about the SDSU Basketball team:
The SDSU Aztecs compete in NCAA Division I (I-A for football). Its primary conference is the Mountain West Conference; its women’s water polo team participates in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and its men’s soccer team participates as an Associate Member of the Pacific Ten Conference (the “Pac-10″ Conference). Crew’s championship regatta is the WIRA (Western International Rowing Association).
Here’s what the coach Steve Fisher has to say about his assessment of the Mountain West Conference from the SDSU Website:
The only team to beat Washington State so far is Utah, and Utah is (6-6) right now. Our league is measuring up. It’s a good league, and I think it will be very competitive. The team that’s been getting the most recognition–and justifiably so, obviously–is Air Force because they’ve beaten everybody except Duke. They’ve beaten people in convincing fashion from those big conferences. But it’s a good league. I haven’t seen anyone yet, but everyone tells me UNLV is guarding better than anybody in our league. They had a great win at Nevada.”
