Jesus Christ Superstar Tickets in San Diego

The rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is coming to the San Diego Civic Theater. Here is short blurb from Wiki:

Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Introduced in 1970, it highlights the political and interpersonal struggles of Judas Iscariot and Jesus. The action largely follows the canonical gospels’ accounts of the last weeks of Jesus’s life, beginning with Jesus and his followers arriving in Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. Twentieth-century attitude and sensibilities as well as contemporary slang pervade the lyrics, and ironic allusions to modern life are scattered throughout the political depiction of the events. Stage and film productions accordingly feature many intentional anachronisms.

A large part of the plot focuses on the character of Judas who is depicted as a conflicted, tragic figure who is not satisfied with what he views as Jesus’s lack of planning, and alarmed by his relatively recent claims of his divinity.

Blue Man Group Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: San Diego Sports Arena Tickets, Theater

Blue Man Group is coming to San Diego. According to Wikipedia:

Blue Man Group (Blue Man, BMG) is a creative organization founded by Phil Stanton, Chris Wink, and Matt Goldman; it is centered on a trio of mute performers, called Blue Men, who present themselves in blue grease paint, latex bald caps, and black clothing. Blue Man Group’s theatrical acts incorporate rock music (with an emphasis on percussion), odd props, audience participation, sophisticated lighting, and large amounts of paper. It is also noted for having a “poncho section” of the audience; in the front rows, audience members are provided with plastic ponchos in order to protect them from various food, substances, paints, and so on, which get thrown, ejected, or sprayed from the stage. The shows are family-oriented, humorous, energetic and often employ thought-provoking satire on modern life. Most of the humor breaks the fourth wall, for example, interrupting the show to ridicule latecomers in the audience.

Blue Man Group will be performing at the San Diego Sports Arena (formerly the iPayOne Center). If you can’t find the tickets you want to this show at the box office here are the places to shop for after market tickets:

Find tickets to Doodlebops at San Diego’s iPayOne Center

By: San Diego Tickets Finder    Category: About and Other, San Diego Sports Arena Tickets, Theater

Alright, I admit it: The Doodlebops kinda creep me out. My toddler likes the show well enough but I cringe every time it comes on. Seems too similar to the weird psychedelic stuff from decades past like HR Puff n Stuff and that always creeped me out as a kid. Plus, the whole music dance theater thing that the doodle bops reek of just ain’t my thing.

But let’s face it — The Doodlebops are not targeted toward dads; the Doodlebops are targeted toward little kids and little kids eat this kind of stuff up. So if you are looking for primo seats to their San Diego show we have you covered. (more…)

Best places to find San Diego theater tickets online

By: San Diego Tickets Finder    Category: Theater

In addition to being “America’s Finest City”, San Diego is also still one of the biggest cities in America so it should not be any wonder that there is excellent theater in town. Most of the top touring production make a stop in San Diego so one need not trudge all the way up to L.A. to see the best productions. (Besides, isn’t it the sworn duty of all San Diegans to not like L.A.?)

The San Diego Civic theater downtown is the largest and best equipped venue in town. It is a lovely place to catch any performance in my opinion — whether it be a Broadway production, ballet, opera, or whatever. The Spreckels theater is the smaller venue in downtown and hosts many excellent performances itself.

So if you are looking to find tickets to a show there are a couple of ways to go about that. The first thing to do is try to buy tickets from TicketMaster. We have links to where you can do that on our resource page. But if you don’t find the tickets you really want there, here are the top few aftermarket ticket resources that often come up with much better seats: (more…)
