The bazaar comedy Dame Edna Everage is coing to San Diego. The fun will be at the San Diego Civic Center. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Dame Edna Everage is a character played by Australian comedian Barry Humphries.[1] As Dame Edna, Humphries has written several books and hosted various television shows (on which Humphries has also appeared as himself). In 1979 Dame Edna was the subject of a BBC Arena mockumentary: La Dame aux Gladiolas.

While Humphries freely states that Dame Edna is a character he plays, Dame Edna consistently denies being a fictional character or drag performer, and refers to Humphries as her “entrepreneur” or manager. Indeed, Dame Edna has frequently said that the thought of a man dressing up as a woman for entertainment purposes is repulsive.

I was in a low budget version of this play once. I am sure the real musical at the San Diego Civic Theater is much better. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Fiddler on the Roof is a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in tzarist Russia in 1905.

Fiddler on the Roof was originally entitled Tevye. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem which he wrote in Yiddish and published in 1894. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each daughter’s choice of husband moves progressively further away from established customs—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

The rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is coming to the San Diego Civic Theater. Here is short blurb from Wiki:

Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Introduced in 1970, it highlights the political and interpersonal struggles of Judas Iscariot and Jesus. The action largely follows the canonical gospels’ accounts of the last weeks of Jesus’s life, beginning with Jesus and his followers arriving in Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion. Twentieth-century attitude and sensibilities as well as contemporary slang pervade the lyrics, and ironic allusions to modern life are scattered throughout the political depiction of the events. Stage and film productions accordingly feature many intentional anachronisms.

A large part of the plot focuses on the character of Judas who is depicted as a conflicted, tragic figure who is not satisfied with what he views as Jesus’s lack of planning, and alarmed by his relatively recent claims of his divinity.

After her debacle of an album in My December Kelly Clarkson has decided to go back to her original record label to help her record her next album. I hope it will be better. She is currently on tour and will be coming to San Diego this fall at the San Diego Civic Center.

Yet another children’s tv show his coming out on tour. Go Diego Go Live! The Great Jaguar Rescue show is coming to San Diego this summer. Go Diego Go is a show with a bilingual Diego who helps animals in danger, mainly in the rainforest. Go Diego Go will be rescuing his Jaguar at the San Diego Civic Theater. Stomp is coming to San Diego this summer at the San Diego Civic Theater downtown. If you want to see a bunch of people on the stage crashing around on trash cans and using other household objects to makke fine music, here’s your chance. I’ve never seen Stomp but it actually sounds intriguing. I would love to see how they can make what my 2 year old does in the kitchen into a work of art. Hairspray is coming to San Diego at the San Diego Civic Center in May. In 2003 the musical was nominated and won 8 Tony Awards. Sounds like a great musical to see to me. A show like this is bound to sell out so it’s best if you get your tickest early. It’s Christmas time again and you know what that means! The Nutcracker Ballet–not to be confused with The Nutcracker Suite–comes to town! This year its at the San Diego Civic Theater.
