The Pittsburgh Pirates will be coming to San Diego this summer. The Padres will host them at Petco Park. Being 5th in the National League Central Divisio, the Pirates need to make up some serious ground if they are want to be noticed in the League. Last year their record was .414 and the Padres had a record of .543 so this should be an easy win for the Padres. This summer the Philadelphia Phillies will be heading over to San Diego’s Petco Park to play up against the San Diego Padres. The Phillies haven’t had that great of a record lately–they haven’t won anything since 1993 when they won the Pennant. This series should be a piece of cake for the Padres. The Atlanta Braves will be coming to San Diego to play the Padres this summer. I remember when it was a race for the Pennant in ‘98 and I was lucky enough to get to a Braves vs. Padres game. The Florida Marlins will be coming to San Diego to play the Padres at Petco Park this summer. If you love baseball in the summer Petco Park is the place to be. Plus you get to watch the Padres–a great San Diego team–up against the other teams in Major League Baseball. The Marlins are one of these teams. Petco Park will be host to this year’s collegiate double header, the Tony Gwynn Classic tournament. Oklahoma will be playing USD and San Diego State will be up against Michigan. This is such an exciting day because the former Padre and current SDSU Baseball coach, Tony Gwynn, will be honored for his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Another American League team that the San Diego Padres will host at Petco Park is the Baltimore Orioles. They’ve done fairly well considering they are in the American League East up against the likes of the Yankees, the Blue Jays and the Red Sox. In 2006 the Orioles had a record of .432 so if the Padres hold close to their 2006 of .543 a win is probably going to happen.

In 2007 the San Diego Padres will have an interleague game against the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park. I like when they bring the American League teams into the picture. It shakes things up a bit. We’ll see if the Padres can do the National League proud by beating the Mariners. Last year Seattle had an average of .481 so as far as baseball’s concerned, anything could happen against San Diego’s (.543).

The San Diego Padres will host the Milwaukee Brewers at Petco Park this year in May. The Brewers have just recently joined the National League so there isn’t too much history between the two teams. I’m interested to see what they can bring to the league. Last year they had a record of .463 against the Padres’ .543 so anything could happen at this game.

In May the San Diego Padres go up against the Chicago Cubs–not to be confused with the Chicago White Sox who are in the American League. I call for a butt-whooping of this team. Last year they had a .407 record by the end of the season compared to the Padres’ .543. Let’s send them packing and have lots of fans to show them off back to Chicago! The San Diego Padres will host the Cincinnatti Reds in 2007 at San Diego’s Petco Park. Last year Cincinnati came in third in the National League Central with a .494. The best games of the Padre season are the home games up against the LA Dodgers. They are lively and fun and usually such a great match-up between teams. Last year

the Dodgers swept the San Francisco Giants in the last series of the season to secure an 88-74 record and land them in a tie with the San Diego Padres for first place in the western division. However, due the fact that the Padres took 13 of the 18 head-to-head meetings during the regular season, the Dodgers were forced to cede the division title to San Diego and settle for the National League’s Wild Card spot. They were eventually swept, 3-0, by the New York Mets in the 2006 National League Division Series. They lost the first two games at Shea Stadium, 6-5 and 4-1, and the third game at Dodger Stadium, 9-5. Wikipedia

Right after the San Diego Padres go head to head with the Dodgers, they will host the Washington Nationals at Petco Park. The Nationals, who formerly were the Montreal Expos, have only been a team since 2005. Interestingly enough the Expos joined the Major Leage in 1969–the same year the Padres did. Last year the Nationals came in last in their division so hopefully this 2-game series will just be for the Padres to sweep the Nationals back to Washington. After a road trip battling the Braves and the Marlins, the San Diego Padres will be back at their home field, Petco Park in May to take on the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2006 World Series Champions the Cardinals will be a tough team to beat in 2007. If the Padres want to show their real strength on the field this is the time to do it.

Padres games are what we are all about right now on sandiegoticketfinder.com. The third team the Padres will be hosting at Petco Park is the Arizona Diamondbacks. A relatively new team, the D-backs have really shown their stuff in the MLB. This sould be a good match-up of skills.

Padre season is once again upon us. Let’s hear it for a great 2007 for our boys in blue! The second home series at Petco Park for the Padres is against the San Francisco Giants. Last year the Giants were expected to go far in the season and even clench the Pennant, but they lost 13 of their last 15 games. Sad season for the Giants. Here’s to the Padres sweeping these Giants back to San Fran.

Okay, this is a sweet thing that is coming to San Diego. The USA World Seven Rugby Tournament, more recently known as the IRB Sevens World Series Rugby Tournament is coming to San Diego’s Petco Park. This tournament travels all over the world with locations including Dubai, South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Australia, London, and Scotland. Sevens Rugby is a little bit different than regular rugby, but it’s still fun to watch! I played touch rugby in college for a PE class and what a workout!
