iPayOne Center (aka San Diego Sports Arena) Tickets

The San Diego Sports Arena has been hosting big concerts and sporting events since the sixties. But as of a couple of years ago it is called the iPayOne Center. [BTW - yep, it's "iPayOne Center" and not i payone center or iPay One Center or I Pay One Center or iPay Center or ipay 1 center or I Pay 1 Center or I-PayOne Center... etc] Here is a little trivia on the arena from the wiki:

The iPayOne Center (formerly San Diego Sports Arena) is an indoor arena located on Sports Arena Blvd in Point Loma, San Diego, California off of Interstate 8.

Completed in 1966 at a cost of $6.5 million, the arena seats 12,000 for arena football, 12,920 for ice hockey, 14,500 for basketball and tennis, 5,450 for amphitheater concerts and stage shows, between 8,900 and 14,800 for arena concerts, 13,000 for ice shows and the circus, and 16,100 for boxing and wrestling.

If you are looking for tickets to and upcoming event at the iPayOne Center the box office is always the cheapest route. But if you don’t find the tickets you want that way here is where we recommend you look for aftermarket tickets:

1. AIW Tickets usually has the lowest prices and a great inventory.

2. Check out a couple of these ticket vendors

3. And you can also check my other two favorite ticket brokers:

StubHub will let you buy or sell tickets and often gets some seats the other guys don’t have
TicketsNow has a good selection too.

If you want more info about the arena itself here is the official iPayOne Center website.

Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert: Lynyrd Skynyrd in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,San Diego Sports Arena Tickets

Sean Hannity and his Freedom Concert is coming to San Diego. Come to the Sports Arena for the fun. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Since 2003, Hannity has hosted country music-themed “Freedom Concerts” billed to help benefit the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, a charity created by Oliver North to provide college scholarships to children with a parent severely disabled or killed in military action. As of 2009, more than $9 million has been raised by the concerts.

Artists such as Charlie Daniels, Billy Ray Cyrus, Hank Williams, Jr., Ted Nugent, Montgomery Gentry, Martina McBride, Buddy Jewell, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Greenwood, Michael W. Smith, and Avalon have headlined at Hannity’s concerts. Between musical sets, the concerts include short intermissions with politically conservative speakers such as Oliver North, G. Gordon Liddy, Mark Levin, Newt Gingrich, Jon Voight, and Rudy Giuliani. Headlining names for the 2010 concert series are Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, and Michael W. Smith.

In March 2010, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington requested that the Federal Trade Commission investigate Freedom Alliance, Freedom Concerts, Sean Hannity, Lt. Col. Oliver North, and others for allegedly falsely claiming that all of its proceeds would go toward scholarships. The president of the charity overseeing the scholarships, Freedom Alliance, called the allegations “baseless” and added that “there is absolutely no merit to the scurrilous charges launched against Freedom Alliance from two of the most left-wing organizations in the country.” Hannity is not on the staff or board of Freedom Alliance.

Alejandro Sanz Concert in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,San Diego Sports Arena Tickets

If you are in the mood for Latin Music that Alejandro Sanz is here to deliver. He is coming to performs at the San Diego Sports Arena. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Alejandro Sanz (Madrid, 1968) wisely unites modernity and tradition, but adding his very particular requirements, since the spirit of flamenco acts like a thermometer reading his states of mind, and helping him manipulate whimsically –a smile always in the way- the very roots of his solid and prolific musical career. These impressions are reflected in a convincing discography affirming Alejandro’s peculiar attitude on the stage, where his voice breaks to meet the sentimental expectations of those who listen to him. In his extensive catalogue nothing looks half-finished. You can find tears and dancing, cigarettes’ smoke and absence. The same way, his pictorial and photographic productions are only another vehicle to make the mind of the observers explode. Because Sanz is a fireworks artist, and he is able to laugh in the face of that sorrow he sings about, since he is inviting us to a party.

Lingerie Football League: San Diego Seduction in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: San Diego Sports Arena Tickets,Sports

I was flipping through the stations one night and came across the San Diego team playing. These women are playing hard football. I would not want to play with them. The Lingerie Football League is playing at the Sports Arena. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Play style is full-contact and similar to other indoor football leagues. Uniforms consist of helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, sports bras, and shorts.

There are no field goals and no punts. There is a kickoff to start the game and second half. A team must attempt to get a first down on every fourth down. After a touchdown, a team can attempt a one-point conversion from the two yard line, or a two-point conversion from the five-yard line.

There are seven women on each side of the 50-yard field, the same as the Continental Indoor Football League, but one less than the eight players usually found in arena football or other indoor leagues. Teams consist of 18 players, only 12 of whom are active on game day. This means that there are usually 3 or 4 players who play both offense and defense.

The standard offensive formation features 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 1 center, and 3 wide receivers. The standard defensive formation features 2 defensive linewomen, 2 linebackers, 2 cornerbacks, and 1 safety.

The field is 50-yard between end zones, 30 yards wide, and the end zones are 8 yards deep, roughly the same as other indoor leagues.

A game consists of two 15-minute halves, separated by a 12-minute halftime. In the event of a tie, an 8-minute sudden-death overtime is played.
