Pink Martini is a “little orchestra” from Portland, Oregon, formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale. They blend genres of music such as Latin, lounge, classical, and jazz. Band leader, Thomas Lauderdale describes the band’s sound as “music of the world without being world music. The Trumpet master is coming to San Diego for a show. Chris Botti will be at Humphrey’s by the Bay. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Botti was the leader of the house band on the nationally syndicated daytime talk show The Caroline Rhea Show (a replacement for The Rosie O’Donnell Show) for its only season in 2002-2003.

He was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People of 2004.

For several years, Botti also hosted a radio show called Chill with Chris Botti, that focused mainly on “chill” music, which is described as “smooth jazz with a touch of cool jazz.” In 2007, saxophonist Mindi Abair took over the hosting duties, and the show, using the same format as before, is now called Chill with Mindi Abair.

With the success of To Love Again, Botti hosted a special concert at the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles in December 2005 with many of the guest artists from the CD. It was recorded for airing on PBS in Spring 2006 as Chris Botti: Live with Orchestra and Special Guests, which also was released as a DVD.

I have never heard of Cecilio & Kapono, so we have Wikipedia to answer that. They are coming to San Diego for a show at Humphrey’s by the Bay. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The story began “with a harmony’s perfect blending” under a starry night on Oahu’s North Shore in February 1973. Then came 8 consecutive months of Sold Out shows 6 nights a week at Waikiki’s Legendary Rainbow Villa inevitably leading to a multi-album national recording contract with Columbia Records.

Henry Kapono Ka’aihue & Cecilio David Rodriguez were introduced by mutual friends. They played a couple of familiar songs and discovered almost instantly that something magical was happening. “That was the moment that everything happened. It was there the first time we sang,” Kapono recalled years later. It was the beginning of Cecilio & Kapono.

Cecilio Rodriguez, was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California where he received an extensive musical education. After forming a band and performing during high school and college, Cecilio moved to Los Angeles where he quickly advanced his musical career as a guitarist. From his first group “Unicorn” to Sonny Charles to Little Anthony and the Imperials, it quickly became apparent that Cecilio was destined to take center stage.

I have never seen Australian Pink Floyd, but I have heard that they are awesome. They are playing at Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The shows typically follow the format of one hour of music, followed by a 20-minute intermission, resuming with another hour of music, and often concluding with an encore of “Comfortably Numb” and “Run Like Hell”. Sometimes the band will play certain Pink Floyd albums in their entirety during a show, usually as a first set. To date they have performed in this format The Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here and on the 2008/9 tour, The Wall. When not performing a specific album the band will perform songs from all periods of Pink Floyd’s oeuvre including early material by Syd Barrett and longer songs such as “Dogs” and “Echoes” to later material from the albums The Wall, The Final Cut, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

America (the Band) is one to the iconic bands of the 70′s. They still do show and are coming to San Diego. Come to Humphrey’s by the Bay for the fun. Here is some info from wikipedia:

America is an American folk rock musical band, composed originally of members Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek. The three members were barely past their teenage years when they became a musical sensation during 1972, with their main popularity during the early to mid 1970s and early 1980s. Some of the band’s best known songs are “A Horse with No Name”, “Sister Golden Hair” (both of which reached #1), “Ventura Highway”, “Tin Man”, and “Lonely People”.

Although their music was derided frequently by critics, the band’s singles and albums were very successful commercially. They were popular enough to attract the services of famed Beatles producer George Martin for a series of seven albums. The band survived Peek quitting near its apex long enough to see Beckley and Bunnell return the act to the top 10 as a duo with “You Can Do Magic” in 1982. Can’t say that I know anything about the Cowboy Junkies, but I have heard about them. They are playing at Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Cowboy Junkies are a Canadian alternative rock band. The group was formed in Toronto in 1985 by Michael (songwriter, guitarist), Margo (vocalist) and Peter Timmins (drummer), and Alan Anton (bassist).

The Junkies first performed publicly at the Beverley Tavern and other clubs in Toronto’s Queen Street West, including The Rivoli. Their 1986 debut album, produced by Canadian producer Peter Moore, was the blues-inspired Whites Off Earth Now!!, recorded using an ambisonic microphone in the family garage.

The group’s fame spread with their second album, The Trinity Session, recorded in 1987 at Toronto’s Church of the Holy Trinity. The two women got to know each other as students at Laurel Ridge Elementary School in DeKalb County, Georgia just outside of Decatur, Georgia, but were not friends because Emily was a grade ahead of Amy. While attending Shamrock High School, they grew closer, and started performing together, first as The B-Band and then as Saliers and Ray. Saliers graduated and began attending Tulane University. A year later, Ray graduated and began at Vanderbilt University. Homesick, both returned to Georgia and transferred to Emory University. By 1985 they had begun performing together again, this time as the Indigo Girls. In a March 2007 NPR Talk of the Nation interview, Emily stated “…we needed a name and we went through the dictionary looking for words that struck us and indigo was one.”

Their first release in 1985 was a seven-inch single called “Crazy Game” with the B-side “Everybody’s Waiting (for Someone to Come Home)”. That same year, the Indigo Girls put out a six-track self-titled EP and in 1987, released their first full-length album, Strange Fire, recorded at John Keane Studio in Athens, Georgia, and including “Crazy Game”. With this release, they secured the services of Russell Carter, who remains their manager to the present day; they had first approached him when the EP was released, but he told them their songs were “immature” and they were not likely to get a record deal. Strange Fire apparently changed his mind.

Heart is a rock band whose founding members came from Seattle, Washington, USA in the early 1970s. At first I didn’t know who David Byrne was but wikipedia enlightened my mind. As a former member of the Talking Heads 80′s band, he has some background in music. He is coming to play at Humphreys by the Bay in San Diego. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Russell Peters is a comedian who has been all over the world. He is originally from Canada which is cool and cold. To learn more about him look below, to see him go to Humphreys by the Bay in San Diego. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Peters’ comedy focuses largely around his Canadian upbringing and racial stereotypes, as he often parodies his parents and South Asian culture. Much of his material explores the cultural divides between many different ethnicities and upbringings in a way that includes many impressions. I have known of Chris Isaak songs for years. He has established himself as a very successful artist. He is coming to San Diego for a show at Humphreys By the Bay. Go and get your tickets soon. Here is some info on him from wikipedia:

Isaak signed a contract to Warner Bros. Records in 1984 for his first album Silvertone. The tracks Gone Ridin’ and Livin’ for Your Lover from this album were featured in David Lynch’s cult classic Blue Velvet. Isaak’s second self-titled album Chris Isaak was photographed by fashion photographer Bruce Weber. Isaak’s contract was renewed in 1988 when Warner Bros. moved him to their Reprise Records label. His best-known song is “Wicked Game”. Though released on the 1989 album Heart Shaped World, an instrumental version of the song was later featured in the 1990 David Lynch film Wild at Heart. Erica Abi Wright (born February 26, 1971), better known by her stage name Erykah Badu American R&B, soul, and hip hop singer and songwriter, whose work encompasses elements of jazz.
