I somewhat like metal bands but this one is from Canada. The are good eh! Come see Anvil at the House of Blues in San Diego. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Anvil is a Canadian heavy metal band comprising Steve “Lips” Kudlow (lead vocals, lead guitar), Robb Reiner (drums), and Glenn Five (bass, backing vocals). To date, the band has released thirteen studio albums, and has been cited as having influenced many notable heavy metal groups, including Slayer and Metallica.

The band, in particular Kudlow and Reiner, was the subject of the 2009 documentary film Anvil! The Story of Anvil, directed by the screenwriter and former Anvil roadie Sacha Gervasi. Upon its release, the film garnered critical acclaim from many major publications, and has since brought the band renewed recognition, including opening slots with AC/DC and Saxon. Appearances at major heavy metal festivals, including Download and Loud Park, also followed the release of the film.

Between The Buried and Me Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts, House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

The metal band Between the Buried and Me is coming to San Diego. The show will be at the House of Blues. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The band was founded in early 2001 in Raleigh, North Carolina by vocalist Tommy Rogers, guitarist Paul Waggoner, drummer Will Goodyear, guitarist Nick Fletcher (formerly Empire Falls), and bassist Jason King.

Between the Buried and Me’s first release was a three-song demo, containing the tracks “Use of a Weapon,” “What We Have Become,” and “More of Myself to Kill.” These three tracks were re-recorded for the band’s first full-length album, Between the Buried and Me, released on Lifeforce Records in 2002. Musical style varied, with hints of death metal, grindcore, indie, and thrash metal. This album includes the track “Arsonist,” a protest against the beliefs and practices of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. The song “Aspirations” became the band’s first music video. This album is not widely known and the tracks are rarely played live, but it did get the attention of Victory Records, to which they later signed. Victory Records reissued the album in 2004 as an enhanced CD.

Nile is a rock band and they are coming to San Diego. Come to the House of Blues for the fun. Here is some info from wikipedia:

In May 2006, Nile signed a recording contract with Nuclear Blast. On February 26, 2007, Nile entered the studio and began recording their fifth full-length album entitled Ithyphallic, which was their first release with Nuclear Blast. Karl Sanders had confirmed a release date of June 29 via a posting on the band’s message board, which was later pushed back to July 20, 2007. As a special bonus, Nuclear Blast gave several fans the opportunity to listen to the new album two weeks before its release if they could decipher a hieroglyphic message, of which “papyrus” was the answer.

On March 21, 2007, Nile was confirmed as a “Second Stage” act for Ozzfest 2007. A message from Karl Sanders via Nile’s MySpace page indicated that they were excited to finally bring true death metal to an Ozzfest audience. In March/April 2008, Nile went on a USA headlining tour with Suicide Silence, The Faceless, Unexpect, and Warbringer. In September/October 2008, Nile set out on a European headlining tour with Grave, Omnium Gatherum and Severe Torture. In October 2008 the band planned to take their Ithyphallic tour to South Africa for a booking of three shows but they were canceled for unknown reasons.

Aquabats Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts, House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

I have seen the Aquabats about five times. They are fun and clean. Come to the House of Blues in San Diego if you are looking for a Ska good time. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The Aquabats (often written as The Aquabats!) are an American rock band formed in 1994 in Orange County, California. They have released four full-length studio albums and have toured internationally. They are best known for their mythology, in which they claim to be superheroes on a quest to save the world from evil through music. As a part of this mythology the band members have adopted superhero pseudonyms and dress in matching costumes. Their eclectic live show often includes onstage “battles” with costumed foes, and the band has built up an elaborate and ever-changing backstory of their origins and adventures, along with a roster of allies and enemies. The group’s lineup has fluctuated significantly throughout their career, with founding members The MC Bat Commander and Crash McLarson as regular fixtures. Jimmy the Robot has also remained a longtime member, having joined the band in 1997. The Aquabats’ early work was heavily rooted in the third wave of ska music, with touches of surf and punk rock. Over the years their music shifted towards more synthesizer-based rock with a new wave influence. Their current style blends elements of rock and roll, pop-punk, ska, and synthpop.

Sonic Youth is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1981. The current lineup consists of Thurston Moore (vocals and guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals and guitar), Mark Ibold (bass) and Steve Shelley (drums).

In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the No Wave art and music scene in New York City. Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground that focused more on the DIY ethic of the genre rather than its specific sound. As a result, some consider Sonic Youth as pivotal in the rise of the alternative rock movement.

He was discovered by Dr. Dre and collaborated on several tracks on Dre’s solo debut, The Chronic and on the titular theme song to the film Deep Cover. Snoop’s debut album, Doggystyle, was released in 1993 under Death Row Records. Doggystyle went quadruple platinum and spawned several hit singles “What’s My Name” and “Gin & Juice.”
