Young’s work is characterized by deeply personal lyrics, distinctive guitar work, and signature nasal tenor singing voice. Although he accompanies himself on several different instruments—including piano and harmonica—his style of claw-hammer acoustic guitar and often idiosyncratic soloing on electric guitar are the linchpins of a sometimes ragged, sometimes polished sound. In more recent years, Young has started to adopt elements from newer styles of music, such as industrial, alternative country and grunge, the latter of which was profoundly influenced by his own style of playing, causing some to confer on him the title of “the godfather of grunge”.

This is definitely the age where 80’s bands are getting back together and doing reunion tours. Van Halen is one of those bands. Eighties alternative rock band, The Cure, led by Robert Smith, is coming to San Diego this fall. The will be playing at San Diego State University’s Cox Arena. Beyonce is coming to San Diego this fall. She will be performing at SDSU’s Cox Arena. I’ve seen a couple shows there and it’s a great place to see a concert. Recently Beyonce received a Golden Globe nomination for Dreamgirls and has also had four number 1 hits in the US since 2003. 
Modest Mouse who released the Modern Rock number 1 song “Float On” in 2004 is coming to San Diego next month. They have just released their new album “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank” and it is already #1 on the US Billboard chart. 
Well we have a new sport in San Diego. The San Diego Shockwave are an expansion team from the National Indoor Football League. They will be playing teams from all over the country. Their home stadium is Cox Arena at SDSU. I don’t know how long indoor football has been around but it sure would be interesting to watch. Now we can have football all year round! In the beginning of May the Shockwave will be taking on the Los Angeles Lynx at the Cox Arena. Every year the SDSU Aztecs head up against the BYU Cougars on the basketball court. This year is no different. They will be playing each other at San Diego State Univerisity Cox Arena.
