Where to find San Diego Zoo tickets online

So you’re coming to San Diego and you need Zoo tickets, eh? Well we’ll try to help you out.

There are a couple ways to get your hands on San Diego Zoo tickets. One thing you could do is walk up and buy them on the spot. The zoo usually doesn’t sell out from what I can tell. Of course the problem with that is that a lot of other people do the same thing so instead of parking and walking right in to the zoo you might find yourself waiting in a 45 minute line out front while looking longingly at all these folks who somehow got their hands on tickets in advance. And if you have little kids (or older kids or adults for that matter) in tow that can, well, suck; so one good way to make the day at San Diego zoo run more smoothly is to buy your tickets in advance. That way you can stroll right in and rush to the lions or tigers or bears (Oh… no I won’t say it) exhibits or whatever and totally avoid that 45 minutes of entertaining squirmy little young’n’s out front. Plus it will make you look cool — like you’re one of those locals who has an annual pass or something. Of course if you dress like you’re from Missouri or whatever it might be hard to pull off the “I’m a cool local surfer-type” ruse… but at least you’ll get in quickly, right? :-)

Here is the best resource I have found to purchase San Diego zoo tickets online. Sometimes they have discount San Diego zoo tickets but I haven’t yet figured out how to consistently get those. The price is $32 per adult and $19.75 for children (apparently $19.75 is more palatable than $20 per child for whatever reason…). If you’re staying at a San Diego hotle and you don’t want to drive here a a deal where a shuttle picks you up at your hotel at 9:00 and takes you home at 4:00. It costs about $12 extra per head. And here is a deal where they include transport from LA and back as part of a zoo package. It is about $40 extra per head.

PS - If you come to town a lot or are a local you might want to buy an annual pass. The zoo is pretty fun to visit over and over I think.

PPS - If you need a hotel in the area here is a link to the Holiday Inns around that area. They do a nice job.
