By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

Ben Folds it coming to San Diego. Come to the House of Blues for the fun. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Folds toured with John Mayer as an opening act (though his set typically lasted an hour) in the summer of 2007. During this tour, Mayer sometimes joined Folds on the song “Narcolepsy”, playing synth. At various concerts throughout the tour, parents of young children going to see Mayer would file complaints about Folds’ lyrics. Folds responded by posting on his website, “We have kids too, but we don’t take them out to rock shows that last until 11pm.”

On March 29, 2008, Folds played the Cage Center Arena at Berry College in Mt. Berry, GA. During contract negotiations, he was asked by the administration to not play one of his songs due to its explicit lyrics. Folds refused, citing artistic freedom.

On May 9, 2008, Folds played his first completely solo show in years at Western Connecticut State University due to the fact that his bassist Jared Reynolds was with his wife who had just given birth to their first son.

Folds made a brief solo tour of Australia during August 2009; at his Sydney Opera House concert he was joined onstage for several songs by Aimee Mann, who was also touring Australia at the time. At the Palais theatre in Melbourne Missy Higgins joined him for You Don’t Know Me.

Buzzcocks Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

I can’t say I know anything about the Buzzcocks, but that is why we have wikipedia. They are coming to the San Diego House of Blues soon. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Buzzcocks are an English rock band formed in Bolton in 1976, led by singer–songwriter–guitarist Pete Shelley.

They are regarded as an important influence on the Manchester music scene, the independent record label movement, punk rock, power pop, pop punk and indie rock. They achieved commercial success with singles that fused pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy. These singles were collected on Singles Going Steady, described by critic Ned Raggett as a “punk masterpiece”. The widely covered “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t've)” remains one of their best-known songs.

The name “Buzzcocks” was chosen by Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley after reading the headline “it’s the buzz, cocks!” in a review of the TV series Rock Follies in Time Out magazine. The “buzz” is the excitement of playing on stage; “cock” is Manchester slang meaning “youngster”. They thought it captured the excitement of the Sex Pistols and nascent punk scene

Green Day can be a little political for me at times, but they are a great band. They are coming to the Cricket Wireless Theater here in San Diego with AFI. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Green Day is an American rock trio formed in 1987. The band has consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool for the majority of its existence. The band is credited as one of the two main bands, along with The Offspring, who put the punk revival into process.

Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. The band’s early releases for independent record label Lookout! Records earned it a grassroots fanbase. Nevertheless, its major label debut Dookie (1994) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. and 15 million worldwide. As a result, Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States. Green Day’s three follow-up albums, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful, reaching double platinum, double platinum, and gold status respectively. Green Day’s 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band’s popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the U.S. The band’s eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, was released on May 15, 2009.

Alejandro Sanz Concert in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,San Diego Sports Arena Tickets

If you are in the mood for Latin Music that Alejandro Sanz is here to deliver. He is coming to performs at the San Diego Sports Arena. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Alejandro Sanz (Madrid, 1968) wisely unites modernity and tradition, but adding his very particular requirements, since the spirit of flamenco acts like a thermometer reading his states of mind, and helping him manipulate whimsically –a smile always in the way- the very roots of his solid and prolific musical career. These impressions are reflected in a convincing discography affirming Alejandro’s peculiar attitude on the stage, where his voice breaks to meet the sentimental expectations of those who listen to him. In his extensive catalogue nothing looks half-finished. You can find tears and dancing, cigarettes’ smoke and absence. The same way, his pictorial and photographic productions are only another vehicle to make the mind of the observers explode. Because Sanz is a fireworks artist, and he is able to laugh in the face of that sorrow he sings about, since he is inviting us to a party.
