Matisyahu Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

Matisyahu has been to San Diego before and he is here again. Come to the show at the House of Blues for some fun. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Matisyahu is an Ashkenazi Hebrew and Yiddish pronunciation of the Biblical name Matthew (מתתיהו). The Modern Hebrew pronunciation is Mātityāhu. The name means gift of God.

Matisyahu Miller explained the origin of his personal use of the name in an interview in Kosher Spirit Magazine (a publication by OK Kosher Certification) as follows: His full secular name is Matthew Paul Miller, and the legal Hebrew name he received at his brit milah (circumcision ceremony) at eight days of age was forgotten. In Hebrew school it was assumed to be Matisyahu because of the connection between Matthew and Matisyahu. The original certificate from the brit was later located and he discovered that the actual name given at the brit was the Yiddish name “Feivish Hershel”. He was advised by his rabbis to continue using the Hebrew name that he had grown up with.

Alison Moyet Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,House of Blues (San Diego) Tickets

I don’t know anything about Alison Moyet, so that is why I am providing info from wikipedia below. She is performing at the House of Blues here in San Diego. Check out this info:

Her mainstream pop career began in 1981 when she formed the electropop duo Yazoo with former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke. In the United States, the band became known as Yaz, as there was a record label in the region already operating as Yazoo Records that presented trademark issues. Yazoo had several hits, including “Only You”, “Don’t Go”, “Situation” and “Nobody’s Diary”, and recorded two albums, Upstairs at Eric’s and You and Me Both. The group was notable for melding Clarke’s trademark electronic sounds with Moyet’s warm, soulful voice.

Yazoo (known as Yaz in the U.S.) was a short-lived but highly successful English synthpop duo from Basildon, Essex that had a number of top ten hits in the British charts in the early 1980s.

Neil Young Tickets in San Diego

By: Jamie    Category: Concerts,Cox Arena Tickets

Neil Young has been touring for many years. He is coming to San Diego for a show at Cox Arena. Go and get your tickets soon. Here is some info from wikipedia:

Young’s work is characterized by deeply personal lyrics, distinctive guitar work, and signature nasal tenor singing voice. Although he accompanies himself on several different instruments—including piano and harmonica—his style of claw-hammer acoustic guitar and often idiosyncratic soloing on electric guitar are the linchpins of a sometimes ragged, sometimes polished sound. Although Young has experimented widely with differing music styles, including swing, jazz, rockabilly, blues, and electronic music throughout a varied career, his best known work usually falls into either of two distinct styles: folk-esque acoustic rock (as heard in songs such as “Heart of Gold”, “Harvest Moon” and “Old Man”) and electric-charged hard rock (in songs like “Cinnamon Girl”, “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)”). In more recent years, Young has started to adopt elements from newer styles of music, such as industrial, alternative country and grunge, the latter of which was profoundly influenced by his own style of playing, causing some to confer on him the title of “the godfather of grunge”.

In several cities during their 2007-2008 winter tour, a joke was made on-stage as to what we would be more likely to see in our lifetimes: a McDonald’s on Mars, or the release of the long awaited album. This was followed by the band’s performance of ‘O Fortuna’ which will be on the upcoming album.

In the latest edition of TSO’s souvenir program there is a page featuring “excerpts from the lyrics on Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s upcoming album Night Castle” copyrighted 2007 Paul O’Neill. The song is titled “There Was a Life” and is adjacent to a full page photo of Al Pitrelli on the west coast and a picture of Robert Kinkel on the east coast. This song is not one of the three featured in the concert.
